Handa Center Presentation for UC Law Students

By: Dr. Hem Sras, Dean of the College of Law

On 26 January 2017, The University of Cambodia (UC) College of Law (CoL) welcomed a volunteer group from the Handa Center for Human Rights led by Mr. Tay Lina, Acting Director of the Handa Cambodia Program, to conduct a presentation and training with UC law students.

Handa Center volunteers led a presentation aimed at promoting the exchange of knowledge and sharing valuable learning experiences with UC students. Mr. Lina Tay began the presentations with remarks that focused on Cambodian criminal procedure. Ms. Allison Hendriks then followed with remarks on the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). The final presentation was given by Ms. Amanda Huynh and covered Australian criminal law.

After the presentation, there were group discussions. The participants were actively involved in critical discussions and exchanged views on the issues discussed in the presentations. Furthermore, quizzes and true- false games were conducted to engage students actively in the presentations and discussion session. The event provided students with good experience in exchanging knowledge, points of view, and using different methods of learning. The session was concluded with a photo session and networking between the UC participants and Handa Center presenters.
