WSD Handa Center for Human Rights and UC sign MOU

On October 19th, 2016, representatives from the WSD Handa Center for Human Rights came to visit UC in order to talk about collaboration between the College of Law (CoL) and the WSD Handa Center, and propose to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. The proposal came to life when both parties agreed and signed a MoU on December 9th, 2016.
In the MoU, both parties expect to collaborate on five important points:
(1) guest lectures
(2) training of faculty members
(3) joint research projects and publications
(4) curriculum development
(5) play advisory roles when needed.
The guest lectures should be conducted once every three to six months based on the availability of each party. The training of faculty members can be conducted through a series of trainings aimed to improve faculty teaching capacity, advance faculty experience, and teach interactive learning methodologies. The parties agree to conduct joint research projects in order to improve the faculty members’ research skills and write research articles. The parties also agree to help develop new curriculum and act in other advisory roles as needed.
The first two items will be completed during the first quarter of 2017, as Prof. David Cohen has agreed to give a guest lecture and faculty trainings during his visit in early February 2017. In short, the MoU will help push the CoL to reach an international level of educational quality.
